Keys please

Ever been locked out your house? Well now I have/still am.

What have I learned from the experience?
1. Assuming your roomates will be home is a bad idea.
2. It is a good idea to leave food at work, although rice cakes don't make for a great dinner.
3. Don't think "I won't need my CDs today" when leaving the house in the morning
4. I still don't like opera.
5. Most importantly, never lend out your only house keys to a bass player.

I've been there, but it was before I owned a car - sitting on your doorstep waiting for someone to get home is much less pleasant. And at least you have opera. Hope someone lets you in soon. :)

Lessons I've learned in the same circumstance:
-if your house is old enough, you can always get in through a window
-if the guy who repaired your hot water heater was clumsy enough to accidentally lock your door from the inside before leaving, he was probably also clumsy enough to accidentally open a natural gas valve, creating a potential death-trap and nullifying the importance of lesson #1

One time I locked my keys in my car at a park in Langley where I stopped to read since I was early for work. I soon had about 4 friendly strangers trying to help me, looking for branches to use in place of a coat hanger. Eventually I managed to hook a long branch to the loop on my backpack in the passenger seat (thank goodness I left the sunroof open just enough). I pulled my bag up to the opening and reached in for the coat-hanger I used to jimmy the driverside door. And I wasn't was even late for work!
